V. Victoria Shroff, KC, (she/her), the principal animal lawyer at the firm, is widely credited as BC’s pioneering animal law lawyer and one of Canada’s 1st and Longest Serving Animal Law Lawyers.  She’s an award winning lawyer who has practiced in the unique area of animal law for over 25 years.

V. Victoria Shroff, KC, has a strong affinity for both animals and the law, having lived with animals as part of the family since infancy. And, her family have been in the legal profession for 4 generations starting with her Great Grandfather.  The boutique law firm was founded decades ago by litigation lawyer (now retired) H. Shroff, K.C.  Being an Animal Law Lawyer, Educator & Author is the perfect fit for V. Victoria Shroff’s love of law & her deep respect & empathy for animals.

For her distinctive contributions to the development of animal law as a legal field, V. New Book! V. Victoria Shroff, KC, has written a unique textbook about Animal Law called Canadian Animal Law (Published by Lexis-Nexis https://store.lexisnexis.com/en-ca/products/canadian-animal-law-2nd-edition.html).  Written in an accessible easy to read style, it’s been called “the go-to” animal law book for both the legal profession and the public.  The comprehensive textbook was fully revised in 2025 with a special Foreword written by The Honourable Catherine Fraser, OAE, KC, the former Chief Justice of Alberta.

Besides being an Animal Law lawyer and Author, V. Victoria Shroff , KC, is also an Animal Law Educator & adjunct Professor at two universities.  She is an (erst.) Adjunct Professor of Animal Law at UBC’s Law school, Allard School of Law where she has been teaching animal law since 2016.  She is also faculty at Capilano University’s School of Legal Studies where she founded & teaches animal law.

The BC Canadian Bar Association appointed Ms.Shroff to its Access to Justice Committee for 2 years.  She has recently been appointed to serve the profession through the Truth and Reconciliation Committee.
