Teaching Animal Law: UBC Law School (Allard), Capilano University & The ‘Paws of Empathy’ program

V. Victoria Shroff, KC, is a long time lawyer and also an she’s also an Educator, teaching animal law at two universities. 

She is honoured to be erstwhile adjunct Professor of Animal Law at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, UBC Law School in Vancouver.  Victoria has been teaching animal law at Allard since 2016.

-Victoria also teaches animal law at Capilano University where she is on the faculty of the School of Legal Studies.  Victoria taught the first animal law course at Capilano University, a course she founded in September 2019.

🐾V. Victoria Shroff has been a teacher since age 13 (back then she taught swimming) and has been a teacher in one capacity or another ever since, while also maintaining her busy Vancouver animal law practice.  She also regularly guest lectures on animal law at law schools,  and to the public. Victoria was recently a guest scholar in Asia, USA and Europe teaching animal law.

Victoria also regularly guest speaks at animal law conferences all over Canada and internationally.  She’s taught CLE courses to lawyers for years in addition to her teaching through universities. -Victoria also mentors other lawyers, university law students and undergraduate students.  She believes strongly in volunteering for animal law and access to justice.

V. Victoria Shroff, KC, founded a program called the ‘Paws of Empathy’ (POE) to teach animal law and empathy in schools. Victoria teaches the program with a well socialized dog or 2. Media have featured it in news stories. We have already had several inquiries about teaching POE outside Vancouver.
